Latin 1Acc (Period 1): We did a quick map activity of the Roman Empire and identified Rome, Athens, and Tyre. We then watched video clips explaining the mythological founding of Rome, the Etruscans, and the creation of the Roman Republic. Homework: 1) Go to the Met Museum website's section on Etruscan artwork (http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/etru/hd_etru.htm) and select the piece of art assigned to your group. Then, write a 1-2 paragraph explanation of the piece including: date of creation, name (the Met's name for it), location of origin, and a description of the piece. Also, you should include why you found the piece interesting--for example, what questions you have about it, how it might relate to Roman culture or your own culture. Your group will do a quick presentation (5 mins max) of these to the class on TUESDAY.
Latin 2H (Period 3): did not meet today. Be sure to do the homework (listed yesterday)!
Latin 1H (Period 4): Today, we went over the fire drill in Latin and you were introduced to your first experience reading/seeing/translating Latin. We also did Mr. C's Latin intro and learned a few conversational phrases in Latin. During our ice breakers, we got to know each other better, including some pretty embarrassing moments. Homework: 1) Make sure to send me an introductory email (find on the right side of this site). 2) Be sure to read my syllabus (under "Course Expectations") with your parent/guardian. You need to bring me a copy of the last page signed by both you and your parent/guardian on MONDAY.
